Explore routes for progress for women in video games.

Let’s take to the road!

  • Route 24 is an independent newsletter for those who feel out of gas with current news cycles and elect stories that drive public trust.

  • Three times a week new issues park in your inbox.

  • With 24 days (and a few hours) until Election Day, Route 24 needs your support to make an impact. To help curb disinformation and build community, consider subscribing. Read more about Route 24’s launch and ways to mobilize with our Toolkit.

  • Thank you for coming along for the ride!

According to the 2024 Essential Facts About the U.S. Video Game Industry report, 190.6 million people play games at least one hour each week in the U.S., 46% of which are women gamers.

However, a recent 2024 Game Developer Conference report concluded that women are still significantly underrepresented in video game development. In a survey of over 3,000 respondents, only 23% of game developers identified as women.

Women in Games shines a light on equity in the gaming industry in the Second Edition of their Building A Fair Playing Field guide. Explore the full guide for more routes for progress.

On International Day of the Girl, the United Nations’ day of observance for gender equity, developing more pathways for equity in gaming is a conversation worth having.

As always, thank you for being a passenger on Route 24!

Stay the course,

Sam
