What a week! While I’m inclined to turn my thoughts inward to process the implications of this election and prepare for the bumpy road ahead, I also find comedy to be the best rest stop from current events. It’s my hope it helps you, too.
Inspired by Stanley Kramer’s 1963 It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, Jerry Zucker’s 2001 Rat Race is a road comedy that meets the moment. An eccentric group of strangers pursue a high stakes, cross-country race to the finish line to win a bet. Featuring an all-star cast, it’s supercharged with slapstick gags that offer meditations on human greed and bias.
Give it a watch (or rewatch) this weekend and share your favorite scenes in the comments!
A Rat Race reminder: While we may experience detours on the road to progress, those of us who believe in the good of humanity will never give up on building a better future for all.
Stay the course,
Sam
